I: Official Green Challenge Opportunity-Community Canvas and Light Bulb Give-Away (San Jose)

8:30 - 9:15 AM: Registration at Southside Community Center’s Multipurpose Room
9:15-9:30 AM: Training at Southside Community Center’s Multipurpose Room
9:30-11:45 AM: Green Challenge Survey
12:00 - 1:00 PM: Debrief and Refreshments at Southside Community Center’s Multipurpose Room
Volunteer Center of Silicon Valley is recruiting volunteers who are experienced in door-to-door canvassing. Canvassing volunteers will work in selected neighborhoods of San Jose. Volunteers will give away free Compact Fluorescent Lightbulbs (CFLs) and engage residents in a short conversation to include a survey of energy usage/attitudes.
Acterra will provide training to volunteers the morning of the event or the prior evening. The training will include information about CFLs and how they reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions.

Meeting Location: Intersection of Sargent and Chopin Drive, Sunnyvale
In partnership with Volunteer Center Silicon Valley, Acterra, PG&E Climate Smart and Cool Cities Sunnyvale
Volunteers will talk to community members about energy usage and attitudes and man an information table at a Halloween parade and pumpkin contest.

In partnership with AT&T and PG&E Climate Smart and in conjunction with Family Volunteer Day
Family Volunteer Day is a call to action to families who live in the Bay Area to “think globally and act locally” to address environmental issues confronting us. Volunteers will engage community members in conversations about how to live a healthier and greener lifestyle and man information and demonstration booth at the Green Challenge Environmental Expo and Volunteer Fair.
